SOUTH OF FRANCE //

Location

The south of France offers an incredibly diverse and visually rich landscape for a photoshoot, particularly in March when the region begins to awaken from winter with soft light and fewer tourists. The coastline is particularly varied, with Cassis and its dramatic calanques providing a rugged, almost cinematic backdrop of towering limestone cliffs plunging into turquoise waters. In contrast, Antibes, with its sandy beaches and historic Old Town, embodies a classic Riviera charm, featuring pastel-hued buildings, cobblestone streets, and luxury yachts lining the harbor. The pebbled beaches of Nice offer a different aesthetic—vivid blue waters framed by Belle Époque architecture and the Promenade des Anglais, evoking a quintessentially French coastal elegance.

Beyond the coastline, the Provence region presents a more rustic, countryside aesthetic, perfect for a softer, more romantic shoot. While the famed lavender fields won’t be in bloom in March, rolling hills, olive groves, and charming villages like Gordes and Roussillon still offer warm, earthy tones and a timeless French ambiance. The weather at this time of year brings cooler mornings and mild afternoons, with golden light that enhances the region’s natural textures—perfect for outdoor and lifestyle shots. Vineyards and châteaux in Provence also provide opportunities for more refined, editorial-style imagery, particularly with the muted greens and warm stone architecture that define the region.

For a more urban, energetic feel, cities like Nice and Marseille bring a different dynamic. Nice, with its colorful facades, bustling markets, and Italian influences, provides a vibrant street-style setting, while Marseille—grittier and more eclectic—offers an edgier, modern contrast with its blend of old port charm and contemporary architecture like MUCEM. The diversity of the South of France makes it an exceptional location, allowing for a range of moods and settings for any seasonal campaign.
