Las Islas del Maíz, or the Corn Islands, are a pair of remote Caribbean gems off the coast of Nicaragua, offering an unparalleled "off the beaten track" setting. With their untouched beaches, turquoise waters, and rustic charm, these islands exude an authentic atmosphere that feels worlds away from crowded tourist hubs. Mid to late February brings mild, dry weather with soft natural light—ideal for creating evocative visuals that balance tranquility and raw, unfiltered beauty.

Unlike more commercialised locations, the Corn Islands provide a unique opportunity to capture a narrative of simplicity and authenticity. There are two options for location, within the island archipelago:

Big Corn Island offers a rugged yet inviting backdrop, with colourful local life, unpaved roads, and coastal views that speak to a laid-back, island lifestyle.

Little Corn Island, reachable only by boat, amplifies this seclusion, with no cars, fewer inhabitants, and an intimate connection to nature that complements a campaign rooted in understated elegance.

These islands offer a serene, rustic canvas that harmonises perfectly with the concept of effortless beauty. From windswept shores and weathered docks to the vibrant hues of local homes, every scene is infused with a sense of untouched authenticity, ensuring a distinctive visual story. The Corn Islands stand as a refreshing contrast to more polished or familiar location.

Shoot Logistics

As with all our productions, we allow for a recce day, shoot day and hold day. This ensures we have locations finalised, whilst allowing for flexibility to decide on the best weather and time of day. We can structure the shoot as a single full-day session, or expand it across multiple days, depending on the project scope and requirements.

The team would consist of Jessica Ruscoe (Photography and Creative Direction), Christian Peterson (Producer), photography/production assistant, hair and makeup artist, stylist, and if required, videographer.

Clients are welcome to join in person or virtually, ensuring seamless collaboration throughout the process.

Candid, Holiday Shots + Posed, Product Focused

The photography will blend candid, lifestyle-oriented moments with thoughtfully posed, product-focused shots to create a balanced visual narrative. The model will be captured in a relaxed, natural style—evoking the feeling of being on a carefree holiday—evocative of the Slim Arons style docu-photography. These spontaneous, unguarded moments will be complemented by more intentional, product-focused compositions that showcase the collection's details against the rich textures and tonal backdrops of the Corn Islands.

The Corn Islands offer a strikingly unspoiled landscape, with palm-fringed beaches, turquoise waters, and rugged coastal features defining their natural beauty. The terrain includes unpaved paths, rocky coves, and stretches of lush vegetation, lending a raw, untouched charm to the environment. The islands’ architecture is equally distinctive, with brightly painted wooden homes, rustic fishing docks, and occasional weathered structures that reflect the simplicity of island life.
